Hungry Hamster Invades Chicago

The Hungry Hamsters are invading Chicago this Saturday!

The Hungry Hamster is a representation of greed you see in everyday artists and its ecosystem. Each of them has a story to be told and hold on to a half-eaten "munchie," giving you a hint of the little desires they so wish for.

Conceived as both a digital and physical collectible, Hungry Hamster is the brainchild of Singapore-based creative Freddy Lim, along with Taketo Kobayashi, and Oasim Karmieh. The digital collectible release of 5,555 NFTs found the Hungry Hamster eating it's way into the hearts of fans in December, and now the vinyl figure is poised to chew it's way into the homes of a few hundred humans and begin it's global domination!

We've enlisted the help of 20 artists from Chicago and beyond to create custom versions and help celebrate the official release of the first two figures in the Hungry Hamster Art Toy Genesis Collection: the Original Hungry Hamster vinyl figure with it's trademark H logo munchie (edition of 300), plus the sick black and gold "An Evil Thought" version (edition of 200) with it's skull munchie.

Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, May 20, 6-8pm where you can meet Hungry Hamster Club founder and lead designer Freddy Lim who will be available to meet with fans and sign purchased figures — plus a special Deep House mix by Rotofugi Music Director Sean Doe! Free snacks and soft drinks, BYOB.

Custom Hamsters and vinyl figures will be available first to attendees of the opening reception of the exhibit, followed by an online release at rotofugi.com early in the following week, with custom figures being available first to our Gallery Previews Email List members. March Exhibit: Michael Fleming aka Tweedlebop

Curious Critters
New Works by Michael Fleming (aka Tweedlebop)
March 20-April 11, 2021

Heading into Spring we thought it was time for something colorful and fun, and it was an easy choice to ask Michael Fleming, aka Tweedlebop, to put on a show. With a 15+ year long career in illustration, Michael has a super fun, super colorful style that connects with both kids and adults alike and we're excited to have a new solo exhibit featuring new works of his. We don't know what all the Curious Critters will look like just yet, but we can't wait to find out!

The exhibit will be open for viewing and sales beginning Saturday, March 20, 10am-6pm, but we are being cautious and will not be holding an opening reception.

Sign up for our gallery previews email list at previews.rotofugi.com to receive an email when works are available to purchase online — we try to have a preview out a day or two before an exhibit opens, though sometimes it doesn’t go out until sometime after the opening.

The exhibit continues through April 11th and the gallery is open for viewing at Rotofugi, 2780 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, 10am-6pm daily, or view online at gallery.rotofugi.com.

About the Artist

Trucks Nuts!
The Tennessee Wolfman Show

New Works by Charles V. Bennett
February 15-March 15, 2020

BYOB Opening Reception
Saturday, February 15, 7-10pm

We're super excited to be getting a little down and dirty with our February exhibit by Nashville-based artist Charles V. Bennett, aka The Tennessee Wolfman!

Expect everything from cardboard sculptures to broken skateboard decks, all adorned with a colorful array of characters drawn from Bennett's world, with a sprinkling of satire and occasional political commentary.

In short, this is good stuff.

Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, February 15, 7-10pm to check out the new works and enjoy music by DJ Sean Doe plus complimentary snacks and soft drinks (BYOB if you want to have alcohol). Charles will be in attendance so stop by and meet the artist!

For BYOB, we are steps away from Beermiscuous, one of Chicago's best craft beer shops — 350 cold beers and ciders (over 200 local beers!) are available in a singles format, allowing you to create your own mix-and-match variety pack for the event!

Exhibit continues through March 15, 2020.

Sign up for gallery previews at http://previews.rotofugi.com for first chance to purchase artwork.
